Social eating has become a staple trend in all societies. No longer do we choose to hang out with friends without having a foray into the eating meals prepared by others. We go out to eat at both fast food and lavish restaurants and order take-out or to-go.
Eating has become a way of socializing. And yet it is still known that people who cook at home tend to consume fewer calories, fewer carbohydrates, less sugar, and less fat than those who cook less, don’t cook at all.
In short, you can enjoy home cooking health benefits all the time, with home-cooked meals more than anything else, and parties and dinner parties, you and your friends can be healthy together!
Here are 5 reasons why home cooking is essential:
- Saves money – I know, to some of you, this is debatable. My way of convincing you is letting you compare. Let us say you are carving a carbonara pasta for dinner, you have two choices buy the ingredients and make it or go eat it outside! The ingredients may cost you about 15$ (60 Qr) and let say at an average place you eat in this dish costs the same. Nonetheless, you are not buying 1 pound of bacon, you are not buying a whole packet of pasta, hence you are saving money! It is a lot more cost-effective to purchase groceries than ordering take out every night. This money-saving strategy will improve your finances and cut down on your stress levels.
- Food safety – Although there is a lot of control on health and safety where I live people can be still prone to foodborne illnesses (also known as food poisoning). Cooking at home will give you the peace of mind you need in knowing you have the freshest ingredients, and you can rest assured knowing your food has been stored and cooked at the correct temperatures.
- Savour your food – The physical act of preparing your own meals will lead to a newfound appreciation for the food you consume. It also allows you to choose what you want to eat and builds more knowledge about food and ingredients. This in return, improves your taste buds.
- Health – This is probably the most known and most important. You can’t deny that cooking at home is much healthier and nutritious Many commercially prepared foods are high in fat, salt, and sugar. When we prepare our own food, we know exactly which ingredients and how much of each is going into our food.
